"It's always action-packed here at Western Springs; this is one of my favourite places to go racing and that's why I've been coming here for so many years," said the current Auckland champion.
"It's hard to race against your hero," he said of 61-year-old motorsport legend Kinser. "He taught me how to race cars, he taught me how to treat people and he's someone all speedway racers of my generation look up to."
Meanwhile, the midgets turned on a 25-lap highlight reel as Brock Maskovich, Shayne Alach and Brad Mosen swapped the lead between them throughout.
In the end it was Mosen who claimed his second feature win in as many meetings, ahead of Alach in second and Maskovich third.
"When the track's this good and if you're brave enough, you can get up high and go as fast as anyone," said current New Zealand champion Mosen.
"It got pretty interesting when we got to lapped traffic but we made it through; it's unbelievable, I love winning those types of races."
Fifteen-year-old Breyton Davison obliterated the TQ midget field to become the youngest ever feature winner of an adult class at WXC Speedway - Western Springs.
Starting on the front row, Davison led every lap beyond drivers with plenty more experience than he, taking the win ahead of Ryan Barry and Ryan Baker.
"I never thought it [his maiden victory] would come so quickly; I've been doing laps in the TQ since I was 11-years-old so to win so early on makes it all worth it," he said.
Earlier in the night, Auckland's Adam Dobbs succeeded the F2 Midget feature ahead of Joe Malone and Eric Smith.
