Holden's Lee Holdsworth will start today's final V8 Supercar race of the season at Sydney's Olympic Park precinct from pole position.
The Fujitsu Racing driver, who started from pole in Saturday's incident-filled race, clocked the fastest lap of one minute, 28.7999 seconds in Sunday's 30-minute qualifying session.
He will start the race ahead of championship contender Jamie Whincup, with Mark Winterbottom and Jason Bright forming the second row of the grid.
Championship leader James Courtney, who needs to finish 22nd or better to claim the title if Whincup wins the 250km race, will start from 12th position.
The 3.4km unforgiving street circuit, which claimed several victims in a rain-lashed race on Saturday including Whincup and Courtney, continued to wreak havoc on Sunday morning.
Whincup and Courtney both had near misses, while Ford's Paul Dumbrell collected a tyre bundle front-on and Holden's Andrew Jones went spearing into a wall midway through the session.
The weather at Homebush Bay is fine and humid although showers are forecast which could again play a major factor in the afternoon's race.
The 250km race starts at 4.35pm (NZT).
