"I really haven't had a chance to celebrate yet as I have to get ready for Macau," said Bamber. "I'm the happiest guy on earth right now. It was a fantastic Supercup year topped off with a pretty intense, crazy and nerve-racking final race at the end [Austin, Texas last weekend].
"I didn't change anything race-wise that I hadn't done in the past and just made sure I didn't do anything crazy. I knew though that we had a car good enough for the podium, which I got [second].
"In the end I had a comfortable championship win beating Kuba Giermaziak by 23 points [he arrived in Austin just five points ahead]. This title means so much to me."
Bamber's fellow contestants in the Supercup must have known something back at the beginning of the year. Even before they hit the track the Kiwi had garnered twice as many of his peer's votes for "the most likely to win" as his nearest rival.
He had won the rookie title after just seven races and went on to finish inside the top 10 in every race. Included in his 10-race results are two wins, three seconds and two thirds, two pole positions, and he twice set the fastest lap time.
"It's been a lot of hard work and preparation this year and I can't thank the teams and sponsors enough," he said.
"It's great the complicated plans all came together and we managed to get two good results.

"Consistency is the key. You don't have to win all the races but if you're on the podium regularly the points will mount up and you'll always be in contention," he said.
Bamber will be in a Porsche GT3R car next weekend as he tries to win another title on the Guia circuit in Macau. He ruffled a few feathers last year when he won the Carrera Cup race beating Sebastien Loeb in the wet.
This year he is stepping up a class and will have his work cut out against a talent-laden field driving a variety of fast GT machinery.
"I'm quietly confident we've got a decent shot at winning the race and I'm really looking forward to Macau. I love the track and we have a good car, a good team and a good programme around the race.
"It's LKM's [sponsor] home race and we'll put on a good show.
"The competition is incredible and impressive with Edo [Mortara] not having lost a GT race since 2009. He's not the only challenge as the DTM champion Marco Wittmann is here as well as Maro Engel, Danny Watts, Laurens Vanthoor and others. It's a world class GT grid," he said.
The Wanganui youngster already has an impressive motorsport resume having been on the podium in every category he has competed in, and won a couple of championships. In a little known fact, on his way to winning the 2006 Formula BMW Asia series, Bamber beat current Red Bull Racing F1 rising star Daniel Ricciardo into third place.
Along the way he raced GP2, TRS, A1GP, Formula Masters, Superleague, Formula Renault, Euroseries and Formula V6. With a couple of international titles under his belt, look for good things to happen when he begins discussions on his future next month.
Meanwhile there's the matter of the Macau Grand Prix to be getting on with, November 13-16.
