Kiwi race driver Mitch Evans has had to settle for fifth in the first race of the GP2 series at Monaco this weekend.
Evans was locked in a fierce battle towards the front of the field with Oliver Rowland and Alex Lynn before he jumped the chicane and was handed a five second time penalty. The fight would continue to the end of the race but the Kiwi had to accept a solid haul of points rather than fight for victory.
Artem Markelov won the race with Evans finishing in a frustrating fifth.
The feature race is tonight.
