Australian Robbie Bugden clinched the New Zealand Superbike Championship for the second time with plenty to spare at Manfeild near Palmerston North yesterday.
Two wins from two starts on his TripleR Suzuki in the fourth round of the series maintained his unblemished record in the championship.
Bugden has won every race in this year's series to secure the title with one round to spare.
The battle now moves down to second position, with Hamilton's Andrew Stroud and Australian Gareth Jones only four points apart ahead of the final round at Pukekohe on Match 8-9.
British rider Midge Smart prospered in the in the 600 sports production.
Class series leader Dennis Charlett, of Christchurch, left the track in the opening race, leaving the way clear for Smart to win.
Race two was run in two parts because of an accident, with Smart winning both legs.
