Bamber continues to score
Young Kiwi Earl Bamber continues to impress in the Porsche Supercup. In Hungary he again qualified on the front row, alongside series leader Kuba Giermaziak. The Kiwi couldn't make the best of his start and trailed third behind Nicki Thiim.
Stanaway closes the gap
Richie Stanaway won his third GP3 race and is moving closer to series leader Alex Lynn after a successful weekend in Hungary. The Kiwi set a blistering time in qualifying to start from pole in the first race of the weekend and was never headed. The reverse top-eight grid for Sunday's race was a big ask but Stanaway kept his cool and crossed the line sixth. He is 31 points behind Lynn with four rounds left.
Evans suffers in Hungary
Aucklander Mitch Evans' run of point-scoring weekends in the GP2 championship halted in Hungary. He's slipped to sixth in the series. Evans was looking good for a top-six finish but a safety car intervened and he had to settle for 12th. The Kiwi came 10th in Sunday's sprint race and is 100 points off series leader Jolyon Palmer.
Rally Cross still a challenge
Emma Gilmour's steep learning curve at the latest round of the Red Bull Global Rally Cross series continued in Charlotte, North Carolina over the weekend. Gilmour is being hampered by mechanical issues, but was able to close the time gap to the rest of the field.
Total Spa a total washout
The two Kiwis racing in the Spa 24-hour endurance race - Shane van Gisbergen and Chris van der Drift, both in McLaren MP12-4C GT3 cars - had early dramas. The Von Ryan Racing McLaren was involved in a massive shunt after just four hours and Van Gisbergen could not compete. Van der Drift's Bousten Ginion team McLaren was caught up in an accident and spent a long time in the garage, coming home 40th.
