Came back into the race for the championship last year despite an engine-related retirement on the fifth round in Argentina when Loeb opened up a 20-point lead.
Hirvonen then had a run of four outright wins. The last race in Wales was winner-takes-all which saw him lose the title by a point.
Jari-Matti Latvala

Shakedown: Two WRC victories; won 2006 production class in New Zealand.
Started driving when he was eight. In 2008 was promoted to the factory Ford team, as No 2 driver to Hirvonen.
Latvala won the second round - Rally Sweden - and at 22 became the youngest winner in WRC history.
A win looked all but certain in last year's Rally New Zealand until his penultimate stage retirement.
Latvala remains one of the few drivers who can truly worry Sebastien Loeb, but you have to have a tow-truck on stand-by.
