KEY POINTS:
Team Kiwi Racing's Shane Van Gisbergen scored the best finish in his short career in V8 Supercars at the 12th round of the championship in Bahrain over the weekend.
Van Gisbergen guided the TKR Ford to 17th overall, scoring championship points from race one and race three and missing out by one spot in race two.
TKR finished race one in 15th positon after starting 23rd to gain valuable championship points, was 16th in race two and finished 13th in the final race at the Bahrain International Circuit overnight.
I really enjoyed this weekend and we are starting to make some real headway as a team,' Van Gisbergen said.
We could have even been a little better in race two if the Vodafone car had not spun in front of me. I had to avoid it and dropped back five places in doing so.
And again in the third race we finished 13th but we dropped five seconds in the pits when a wheel nut stuck during our compulsory pit stop. I came out behind a bunch of cars and think I could have been into the top 10 otherwise,' Van Gisbergen said.
Bahrain was the best round for Van Gisbergen and Team Kiwi Racing so far this season, finishing the weekend in a share of 15th position overall.
