V8 Supercars promoters have scrapped the controversial 'reverse grid' race format for the last four rounds of the series.
The format applies to the sprint rounds like Pukekohe which have three races on a weekend.
The grids have the fastest cars from race one starting from the rear of the field in race two, but drivers have always believed the reverse grid racing is a recipe for disaster on tight tracks.
V8 Supercars Chief Executive Wayne Cattach says while they feel the reverse grid format has met many of its intended objectives, they acknowledge it is not suited to all tracks.
Cattach says V8 Supercar teams and supporters had mixed reactions to the format with some very positive and others critical.
