SYDNEY - The V8 Supercars board has confirmed a big move in the sport next year with regular drivers not being allowed to pair up for next year's endurance events.
It means this year's Bathurst champions, Holden's Garth Tander and Will Davison, will have to race in separate cars next year along with the rest of the V8 Supercar drivers.
Rather than pairing with their teammates, the drivers will now have to find non-championship drivers to share their duties for next year's Phillip Island 500 and Bathurst 1000.
The board met on Monday in Sydney and have drafted up a provisional rule change will means fulltime drivers cannot drive more than one car in the 2010 championship.
The rule change will also bring an end to TeamVodafone duo Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup's partnership which reaped three consecutive Bathurst crowns from 2006 to 2008.
