WINTON - The all-conquering Team Vodafone cars of Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes have been declared legal by V8 Supercar officials following a furore over a piece of the Fords' bodywork.
The cars' front air splitters had been the subject of concerns raised by scrutineers at this weekend's event at Winton.
Both cars have been found to been within the rules and the results of the weekend's racing have been ratified.
Lowndes won both races at Winton this weekend, while Whincup leads the championship by 114 points.
But V8 officials are considering clarifying the rules concerning front splitters ahead of the next event in the series at Symmons Plains in Tasmania.
They are concerned a grey area may exist in the rules, which created uncertainty over the Team Vodafone cars.
