Springs Promotions Limitedhave announced they have recently signed off on a three year agreement with Regional Facilities Auckland to remain at the Western Springs venue until 2019.
The announcement has been mentioned publicly for months.
"It's great for our fans and competitors to have confidence in their sport of Speedway, and that it remains at the home of Speedway in Auckland - Western Springs," said promoter Greg Mosen.
The team at both Springs Promotions Limited, and Regional Facilities Auckland are in continued talks over the future of Speedway at the venue, and while those talks continue, it's great to have that medium term security provided to the sport.
"With three more seasons at the venue, this paves the way to provide certainty for everyone involved from Sponsors, Competitors, Fans and those in support of this sport remaining at this Heritage Site. Speedway has been the main event at the venue since 1929, and this extension will see the sport celebrate its' 90th Birthday in 2019," Mosen says.
The 2016/2017 season kicks off on November 5 with one of the biggest sprintcar nights of the year, along with a full blooded fireworks display at the end of the night.
