Valentino Rossi has stopped his legal fight against a race penalty which cost him the MotoGP title last month.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport says the Italian racer "has now informed the CAS that he does not wish to continue with his appeal."
Rossi previously lost a ruling at CAS to try to freeze an International Motorcycling Federation sanction ahead of the season-ending race in Valencia, Spain. The seven-time world champion was punished for kicking out at defending champion Marc Marquez of Spain during the previous race in Malaysia.
Rossi, who still led the standings, had to start from the back of the grid in Valencia. Needing to finish second, Rossi was fourth and race winner Jorge Lorenzo of Spain won the title.
