New Zealand's Jonny Reid has qualified second fastest for tomorrow morning's sprint race at the Mexico round of the A1GP Championship.
Reid did not fare as well in the qualifying for the feature race and will start from sixth.
Meantime McLaren's Lewis Hamilton is the man they will all be trying to catch when this afternoon's Formula One season begins in Melbourne.
The Briton is on pole from BMW's Robert Kubica and Hamilton's McLaren teammate Heikki Kovalainen.
World champion Kimi Raikkonen suffered mechanical problems and will line up 16th on the grid.
