The New Zealand team achieved their first pole position in the A1 grand prix series after dominating qualifying for the second round in the Czech Republic.
Driver Jonny Reid was the fastest in all four segments of yesterday's qualifying session around the 5.41km Brno circuit to propel the New Zealand car on to the front of the grid alongside Germany for tonight's sprint race.
Malaysia qualified third.
New Zealand's engineering team director David Sears said the qualifying was an absolute dream.
"We're over the moon to be the top qualifier," Sears said of the team's unprecedented pole position in the second season of the series.
"We don't think any team achieved a qualifying clean sweep last season, so it's an incredible performance from Jonny and the team.
"We wrote the script yesterday, but never expected everyone to remember all their lines."
New Zealand's cause was helped when team mechanics found a cracked suspension part in the car.
The crack, caused in the feature race in the Netherlands last weekend New Zealand finished 11th, could have upset the balance of the car had it gone undetected and not been fixed.
Sears said Reid has been cool and relaxed in his first competitive A1 grand prix drive in 11 months.
"He's done everything right and been great to work with. He's been a demon on the track, but extremely analytical and insightful in providing feedback to set up the car."
The 20-minute sprint race starts at 10pm with the 70min feature race beginning at 0200 tomorrow.
