The double-header finale of the 2017-18 Formula E championship in Montreal has been cancelled.
The Canadian city has recently elected a new mayor. After initially wanting the race in the city centre to be moved mayor Valerie Plante announced the government wished to cancel the race with immediate effect.
"We are very surprised and disappointed by the unilateral decision and announcement of the Mayor of Montreal," said a Formula E spokesperson. "This is a clear case of a new mayor undoing what the previous mayor did."

Montreal hosted the final round of the 2016-17 championship and holds a contract for this season as well.
