V8 Supercar legend Greg Murphy will join Erebus Motorsport today after the invitation to drive David Reynolds' car in Friday's additional driver practice session was extended by General Manager Barry Ryan.
Barry has worked with Greg before and is excited to get the four times Bathurst winner's feedback on the recent changes "Murph's a champion driver and we welcome his feedback ahead of Dave getting in the car. We went to Perth with several changes and learnt a lot about the car. We continue to engineer our cars and we need to be patient as we fine tune everything".
David Reynolds is buoyed by the recent updates. "The team continues to make changes, which is all I can ask for. We will push to find small gains between each race weekend. Having Murphy drive the car today is great and I look forward to hearing his opinion after the session."
Greg Murphy is looking forward to the 30 minute session after sampling each make in the series for TV last year over just 3 laps. "These cars change so fast and I haven't driven one in a testing environment since 2014, for me it's a little opportunity to get in a feel what the cars are like now and find the limits on a beautiful day on a brand new track surface. I've know Barry for a long time and when he asked if I could drive here the timing was good, it works for television and if I can give a bit of feedback to Dave so be it, but I'm really looking forward to just getting out there and having a bit of fun.
Rookie racer Aaren Russell is confident he is finding his feet following his improved results in Perth. "Perth was good, we practiced well and maintained pace during the races. I hope to improve again this weekend and am really looking forward to racing on the new track surface here at Winton".
