KEY POINTS:
New Zealand V8 Supercar driver Greg Murphy is counting down the days to next month's inaugural Hamilton 400 street race.
Murphy has had a quick look at the circuit this week and is impressed with the passing opportunities the track will provide.
The 35-year-old says he has always supported the move away from Pukekohe.
He says the thrill of a street race in town is something else so Hamilton people are going to have something to be really proud of.
Murphy will debut a new Tasman Motorsport Holden Commodore in Hamilton after using last year's model for the opening rounds of the season in Adelaide and at Eastern Creek.
He describes the new car as far more than just an evolution of the old model and they are hoping the car will start performing straight away so they can put on a show for the fans in Hamilton.
Murphy will get his first opportunity to test drive the new Commodore at Winton in a fortnight.
The four-time Bathurst winner currently sits seventh in the championship.
