It's the most open Supercars championship race ever, but Ford star Chaz Mostert just can't get himself a ticket to join the fun.
The Prodrive Racing Australia ace's on-track struggles continued over the weekend at Winton.
A serious title contender before a horror crash at Bathurst last year left him with a shattered leg and fractured wrist, Mostert has yet to recapture that form in 2016.
Since returning to racing, Mostert has been quick in qualifying and picked up his third pole position of the season at Winton for Sunday's 200km race.
But his race results have been nowhere near where they were before his injury.
On Sunday, the 2014 Bathurst champion was jumped on the line by Fabian Coulthard, immediately finding himself under pressure.
A pit strategy gamble then backfired when a collision with Holden's James Courtney left Mostert with a puncture and effectively out of the race.
In the end, the Ford star limped home in 20th position to leave him 12th in the championship standings.
Mostert knows it's time to start delivering, beginning with next month's trip to Darwin, where he won one race and had podium finishes in the two others last year.
"I am really disappointed for the team that my error cost us a high overall result," Mostert said.
"Overall we made great gains over the weekend and I really enjoyed letting my engineer Brad (Wischusen) shine.
"I just need to eliminate the errors and we'll be in with a chance."
