New Zealand's representation on the FIA (International Motoring Federation) has been strengthened.
The FIA represents all motoring activities worldwide, and while best known for its ultimate control of Formula One and the world rally championship, its work encompasses motor vehicle and highway safety and many other aspects of motoring.
MotorSport New Zealand (MSNZ) today said the country was represented on the FIA in increasing numbers.
New Zealand Automobile Association chief executive Brian Gibbons has been elected to one of two deputy president positions and is responsible for automobile mobility and tourism.
Morrie Chandler has been re-elected as one of seven sporting vice-presidents, heading the world rally commission.
As well, MSNZ president Steven Kennedy has been re-elected to the world touring car championship commission and as chairman of the Asia Pacific rally championship working group.
