SYDNEY - A familiar name will grace this year's V8 Supercar endurance events after James Moffat was named as one of Ford Performance Racing's drivers.
Moffat, son of four-time Bathurst winner Allan, will partner Steven Richards at the Phillips Island 500 and Bathurst 1000 in his V8 Supercars main series debut.
The 26-year-old is believed to be seen as a long-term replacement for Richards in the FPR Falcon and finished an impressive second in last year's minor Fujitsu Series.
Moffat is racing in the Fujitsu series this year with the Ford Rising Stars program and is fifth on the standings.
"We have obviously been following James very closely through our association with Ford Rising Stars Racing, and he is a very mature driver for only his second full season in V8 Supercars," FPR boss Tim Edwards said.
Mark Winterbottom will meanwhile share the driving responsibilities at this year's endurance events with Luke Youlden, who will be racing for his third straight year at Bathurst having partnered Dean Canto in 2008 and 2009.
"Over the years, Luke has demonstrated that he is one of the most talented drivers in Australia without a full time drive, and we are glad that he has joined the team for a third straight year," Edwards said.
