The V8 Supercar season has ended the way it started for New Zealand driver, Greg Murphy.
Having started the weekend as an outside chance for the Championship, Murphy has finished the final round of the season at Eastern Creek in 20th place, falling from second in the championship to fourth.
The K-Mart Holden driver said they just could not get the car to perform when they needed it most and they have let the fans down.
In fact, Murphy said he half expected it was going to happen as they have struggled to get a consistent car all year and he is glad it is all over.
He has had his problems at Eastern Creek in the past where his results in recent years have been average, at best.
Murphy is looking forward to the off-season to recharge the batteries and he will be staying as far away from race cars as possible.
Ford driver Marcos Ambrose won all three races of the season's final round, to seal back-to-back championships.
Stone Brothers Racing made it a championship 1-2 with Ambrose's teammate Russell Ingall grabbing second place for the year, with a third place at the weekend.
Jason Bright was the best of the Holden drivers in the Championship, finishing third overall.
