KEY POINTS:
Former works driver Alister McRae has confirmed he will make a one-off return to the World Rally Championship later this month in New Zealand.
McRae, brother of 1995 World Rally Champion Colin McRae, will drive a Mitsubishi in the 11th round of the championship, which will be based in Hamilton, heading to the King Country, Waikato and Franklin districts from 30 August to 2 September.
"I'm delighted to be returning to the FIA World Rally Championship for Rally New Zealand," the former British champion and Hyundai and Mitsubishi works driver said.
"The rally is my favourite event and not only do I always enjoy driving there, I've had a fair degree of success as well."
The Scotsman, now based in Perth, competed in the first round of the New Zealand Rally Championship in Otago earlier this year, finishing seventh.
His entry is also good news for Hawke's Bay young co-driver Erin Kyle, who will be his co-driver.
McRae worked with the 22-year-old during the Otago rally.
