John McIntyre has been disqualified from race one of the NZV8 championship's second round at Ruapuna over the weekend.
The Ford driver had his second placing pulled after a protest was made following contact with the rear of Andy Knight's car early in the race. The contact saw Knight spin out of contention.
McIntyre's team will appeal the decision, which will be heard before the end of December.
A fifth place and two second place finishes saw Angus Fogg hold his place at the top of the standings, while defending champion Craig Baird is second - 10 points adrift of Fogg.
McIntyre had won the round and would have been sitting just seven points behind Fogg had he not been disqualified form the first race. As it stands after the penalty, he sits in third place but 79 points behind Fogg.
