Invercargill's Brendon Leitch has won his first race in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series in a year, leading from pole position of the reverse grid event at Taupo this morning.
Leitch last won in the class in the Saturday afternoon race here last summer.
Christchurch's Ryan Yardley did a good job of defending second place from Dutch teenager Richard Verschoor, who is now within 12 points of Russian Robert Shwarztman in the battle for second in the championship.
Series leader Marcus Armstrong from Christchurch finished fourth and opened up a 41 point championship buffer.
All five New Zealanders in the field finished inside the top seven with Taylor Cockerton (6th) and Reid Harker (7th) completing the line-up.
