WRC2 star Esapekka Lappi is the latest driver to be rumoured to be linking up with Toyota as the Japanese manufacturer makes a return to the World Rally Championship in 2017.
The Finn is currently fighting for the WRC2 title with Skoda but has confirmed he will be leaving the outfit next season as he pursues a full WRC drive.
Lappi has been mentioned by Toyota team boss Tommi Makinen as a potential recruit ahead of their return to the top level. Lappi has denied rumours he test drove the new Yaris WRC car though.
"I have been at the workshop," Lappi told autosport.
"Tommi [Makinen] invited me to come and see the car and I think the rumour about me [driving the Yaris] started from there. It's not true, I cannot drive it.
