There is a state-of-the-art headquarters in Melbourne's outer suburbs, a first race win to Rick earlier this year, and a car in the championship top four.
Both Rick and Todd drive for the team under the Jack Daniel's Racing banner - Rick heading to Bathurst chasing his third win and Todd his second.
Either would become one of few owner-drivers to have ever conquered Mount Panorama with a win.
"Bathurst is a rollercoaster weekend. You can have difficulties during the race, have to pass a lot of people, it all happens on the spot and it can be a surprise when you stand on the podium at the end of the day," Rick Kelly said.
"And that's what makes it so special. It's like winning Tattslotto - your numbers come up and it's a huge surprise.
"It could be over on lap one, or you could be well and truly in the hunt."
What could really speed Rick into the history books is rain.
He is V8 racing's rain king - producing some of the championship's most extraordinary performances in wet weather.
If it rains on October 9, expect him to be right in the finish - car-willing.
Rick will drive with Owen Kelly - no relation - at Bathurst.
New rules preventing regular series drivers teaming up at Bathurst mean the Kelly brothers cannot drive together.
But they are drivers with a driving ambition.
A win for either is a win for the greater good - another step towards their goal of Kelly Racing becoming a V8 Supercar powerhouse.
"Our ambitions in life haven't shifted since we started our own team - we still want to win," Rick said.
"The difference is now we not only control that from a driving point of view, but from a team point of view as well.
"We've learned so much about business, the way the category works and the way sport in general works as well.
"It's a lot more work than you could imagine - it gets busier and busier and it wears us both a bit thin sometimes.
"But it's been a fantastic adventure for both Todd and I, and it's going to be really rewarding when we stand on that top step for either Bathurst or a championship."
