Kiwi V8 driver Greg Murphy is in doubt for the biggest event of the season, the Bathurst 1000.
The four time champion was rushed to hospital over the weekend with a back problem. He had surgery on Sunday to fix a bulging disc, after he collapsed in his home with extreme pain in his back.
Murphy says he will do everything he can to be in the driver's seat, but at the moment it's all about recovery.
"It was pretty agonising there for some time and I suppose in some way we're lucky, as we've three weeks to go to the next race, but whether there's time to recover enough is the question."
The next V8 meeting is the endurance round at Victoria's Phillip Island from September 10 to 12 - the traditional lead-up to Bathurst in October.
