Australian IndyCar driver Ryan Briscoe will compete at next month's Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar event.
The Sydneysider, who currently sits fifth on the IndyCar championship led by Penske teammate Will Power, will race alongside young Holden driver Andrew Thompson in the race at Mount Panorama on October 11.
Nick Percat, who drove the Bundy Red Racing Commodore alongside Thompson at this month's Phillip Island 500 will step aside for Briscoe.
"To have someone with Ryan's ability and experience join the team will be a great boost for Bundy Red Racing," Walkinshaw Racing chief executive Craig Wilson said on Thursday in a statement.
Briscoe's last ride in a V8 Supercar came with the Holden Racing Team (HRT) in 2006`s Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 events where the 28-year-old finished 21st alongside seven-time Bathurst winner Jim Richards at Sandown but failed to finish at Mount Panorama.
"It was a pleasure to have him drive for us in 2006 and we look forward to welcoming him back into the family when he returns to Australia for the Bathurst 1000," Wilson said.
Briscoe will link up with HRT, Bundy Red Racing's sister operation, for the Gold Coast 600 event at Surfers Paradise later in October.
