Le Mans winner Brendon Hartley is expected to join fellow Kiwi Scott Dixon at Chip Ganassi Racing for the next Indycar season.
Hartley has been looking for a new drive for 2018 after Porsche decided to withdraw from the World Endurance Championship at the end of the current championship, which Hartley leads along with teammates Earl Bamber and Timo Bernhard.
Racer.com is tipping the 27-year-old Hartley to replace Brazilian Tony Kanaan in 2018.
The New Zealander has also been linked to the vacant seat at Schmidt Peterson Racing but Ganassi gave the strongest hint yet that a deal has all but been reached.
"First, if [another owner] wanted to sign him up that bad, he could have signed him," Ganassi told RACER. "And secondly, Hartley's one guy we're talking to, among others."
