KEY POINTS:
New Zealand driver Brendon Hartley has claimed pole position for tomorrow morning's fourth round of the British Formula Three motor racing series at the Croft circuit in Yorkshire, England.
But for the third round of the series at the same circuit earlier in the day, Hartley will start from the third row of the grid after qualifying sixth in his Red Bull Dallara-Mercedes.
Hartley's time of one minute 13.237 seconds was four hundredths of a second quicker than Sweden's Marcus Ericsson who was the fastest qualifier for the third round with a time of 1min 12.733sec.
Hartley said there were some problems with the car which had been sorted out, giving him confidence and allowing him to claim the pole spot.
"I'm very much happier (to have got a pole start) because obviously the season didn't start very well at Oulton Park (which hosted the first two rounds)," Hartley said.
"We've had some problems with the car which we have now found a solution to and that's why I feel much more confident and could do the pole.
Hartley is currently ninth in the standings on 10 points after failing to score in the opening round at Oulton Park.
Ericcson and Spain's Jaime Alguersuari lead the series with 21 points each.
