Former two-times world 500cc motorcycle champion Barry Sheene has died on the Gold Coast.
The 51-year-old, who won the world title in 1976-77, died yesterday after being diagnosed last year with stomach and throat cancer.
Sheene was born in England and won 19 500cc Grands Prix before moving to Australia in the early 1990s. He leaves a wife and two teenage children.
