Angus Fogg proved this could the year he finally wins his first New Zealand V8 championship.
With the reigning champion John McIntyre not defending his title, Fogg and a number of other contenders went head-to-head in round two at Ruapuna.
Fogg dominated the weekend, reeling of fast laps and finishing on the podium in all three races to leave the Ruapuna circuit with a healthy point's lead. Tim Edgell finished the round in second place with Australian V8 Supercar driver and former Bathurst winner Jason Bargwanna in third.
"It was a comprehensive win and that's the way we like to do it," said Fogg. "I think it might have been a record winning distance and the car has been fantastic all weekend since we rolled it out of the truck.
"Every since the big accident at Pukekohe the car's been great. Since we had to go over every single bit of the car we found a few small things, fixed them and this is the result."
