As well as the opening Toyota Racing Series round, the rest of the drivers contesting various New Zealand motorsport categories fire into action at Teretonga this weekend.
Angus Fogg has his nose in front of the chasing pack heading to round three of the NZV8 series with Craig Baird, John McIntyre and Kayne Scott all close.
All four were front-runners last year and although McIntyre won the Teretonga round, it was Baird who challenged by almost stealing a race win in some of the closest racing of the season.
McIntyre could still be seen as the form favourite but Baird is on the pace earlier than last season and is expected to challenge as closely as we saw last year.
However, Fogg has his car working better this season and may come away with the win.
Andy Booth is the leading Commodore pilot but is still demanding more pace from his car.
Baird could win his second V8 championship, but he'll have to up his game if he wants to win a seventh Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
He languishes in sixth place on the table, 180 points back from series leader Daniel Gaunt.
With four rounds to go, Baird could recover, but he'll have a fight on his hands from Gaunt, Jonny Reid and Mitch Cunningham. The V8 utes are at the top table this year, headed by Caine Lobb with Simon Beirne and Chris Pither hot on his heels.
Three Formula Ford drivers arrive at Teretonga Park covered by only five points. Matt Williams has three wins and leads the championship from Andre Heimgartner and Stefan Webling.
Mike Turley leads the Suzuki Swifts, 42 points up on AJ Lauder, who is 25 ahead of Mark Gibson.
