Tonight's United Truck International Midget Series event at Western Springs Speedway will start an hour early at 5pm.
Event organisers have made the call to try and get the night completed before showers are forecast in Auckland for late in the evening.
NASCAR star Kyle Larson will feature in the 50-lap race having made a quick trip across the Tasman where he had been racing in Australia.
Larson had been scheduled to race on January 1 at Parramatta Speedway in Sydney but bad weather forced the night to be postponed until a night later. Larson however chose to skip the meeting to ensure he made it to Auckland where he wants to beat Kiwi favourite Michael Pickens.
Larson, who won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race in 2016, will drive the Taylor owned Breka/Toyota running the #1 USA number.
