Will Davison has clinched his first win for Holden, taking out the opening race of the V8 Supercar event at Sandown.
Davison beat home Ford's James Courtney while the TeamVodafone Falcon of Craig Lowndes was third.
Series leader Jamie Whincup was held back by a pitstop drama and was forced to settle for sixth place.
Davison's maiden V8 win came last year in a Ford at Eastern Creek but yesterday's victory is his first since joining the Holden Racing Team.
He started from pole position - the first of his career - but was beaten into the first corner by Whincup.
On the second lap Davison, in a daring move, regained the lead and set the pace.
Whincup lost crucial time in the pitstop when a wheel was changed and he rejoined the field effectively in sixth spot.
Davison pitted and managed to pull out retaining the lead with Courtney in second place.
Craig Lowndes moved into third ahead of the Holden of Todd Kelly, with Michael Caruso's Commodore fifth and Whincup sixth.
