Motorsport: Cunningham scores IndyCar drive

Kiwi driver Wade Cunningham has finally got his opportunity to race in the IndyCar series.

Cunningham, who has been racing in the tier below since 2005, has been signed by Sam Schmidt Motorsports and will drive in four IndyCar races this year.

He says after consistent success in the Indy Lights it's great to finally crack the big time.

Cunningham says he's very happy but mostly relieved to finally get and opportunity, which is all he's ever wanted.

Cunningham chose to race in four races rather than only the Indy500.
