Manfeild hosts the final round of the Toyota Racing Series this weekend with the added bonus of the feature race tomorrow being the 60th running of the New Zealand Grand Prix. This is one of only two FIA recognised GP outside the Formula One circus, the other is the Macau Grand Prix.
The 20 new FT-50 TRS cars have been put through their paces over the past 13 races with the drivers coming through pretty much unscathed, but a few of the cars are a little worse for wear. Canadian Lance Stroll has been the driver who has stayed out of trouble and got himself into the right position to pounce when the others have fallen by the wayside.
He leads the championship by a healthy 85 points from find-of-the-championship Indian driver Arjun Maini and Frenchman Brandon Maisano a further 17 points back.
"The New Zealand Grand Prix is okay but my focus is on being consistent at the last round of championship because I really want to win the series," said Stroll.
The Kiwis haven't been as strong as in the past and have been caught out with a few mechanical issues and the raw pace of the 16 internationals who made the trip to New Zealand. Best placed with three races to go is James Munro in seventh with Damon Leitch tucked in behind him, his brother Brendon is 12th and Jamie Conroy 14th.
