Holden driver Jason Bright has withdrawn from the V8 Supercar races at Sandown this weekend, succumbing to a rib injury.
Bright was unable to return, having missed a race last weekend at Launceston when he complained of severe chest pain from an old injury to his ribs.
Bright's replacement in the Team BOC Commodore is Andrew Jones, who drove the car in the first of four practice sessions on Friday ahead of the weekend's racing.
Ford driver Paul Dumbrell was quickest in the opening session.
Qualifying and the first of two races are scheduled for Saturday.
