The Ford and Holden fraternity will probably see it as an invasion of their sacred tarmac when renewable energy experts converge on Mt Panorama to road-test electrically powered vehicles.
About a dozen "green" vehicles will next week tackle the circuit at the home of the V8 Supercars iconic Bathurst 1000.
Organisers hope the climate change summit will prove the forerunner of a fully fledged race between low-emission vehicles next year.
