Supercars driver standards boss Jason Bargwanna has been axed ahead of the 2017 season.
The former Bathurst winner has held the role of Driving Standards Observer/Investigating Officer since the start of the 2014 season but Supercars is understood to be undertaking a major overhaul of the judicial system in the wake of criticism this year.
As part of that overhaul Bargwanna has been told he is not in the sport's plans.
Bargwanna competed in Supercars between 1998 and 2011 and is still competing in the New Zealand Touring Cars championship.
The judicial system came under fire this year with the incident involving Jamie Whincup, Scott McLaughlin and Garth Tander at Bathurst highlighting issues in the system.
