Eastern Creek has been dropped from the A1GP calendar along with Brno in the Czech Republic. Their loss is Italy and Indonesia's gain, with Italy hosting the first round of the season in September.
A1GP Team New Zealand spokesperson Bob McMurray says the two dumped venues were not producing the desired results.
He says in the current economic climate, motorsport has to go where the buck is and it is encouraging there is a number of countries wanting to host it.
Taupo is set to host the sixth round in late January.
