For the first time ever, the NZ martial arts industry has an umbrella organisation to meet all practitioners' needs.
From self-regulation to information on child safety, the various national organisations now have an unbiased network to support their efforts.
Traditionally martial arts disciplines stayed separate from sports and competed against other martial arts in the community.
The separation meant martial artists were left on their own to seek out information and support they needed.
This isolation ends with the upcoming Inaugural Conference of the Martial Arts Industry Assembly, to be held in Wellington at the end of the month.
