From drug ring to engagement ring. Former All Black and television celebrity Marc Ellis is to marry his longtime girlfriend, jewellery designer Agustina Mon.
Ellis - who was convicted and fined $300 on Friday for possessing the class B drug Ecstasy - is understood to have popped the question to Argentinian-born Mon while they were recently holidaying overseas.
Ellis - who was voted New Zealand's second sexiest man in 2002 and 2003, after Jeremy "Newsboy" Wells - has been dating Mon for several years. He was previously involved with hockey star Mandy Smith, now married to America's Cup skipper Dean Barker.
Earlier this year Ellis told the Herald on Sunday he had been contemplating marriage. "I'm at the time in my life where a lot of my friends are getting married and having kids. I'm thinking about it. When you meet someone who you dig, you want to settle down," he said in February.
As well as designing jewellery, Mon is known for her crocheted Brazilian-style string bikinis.
