Marathon gets royal treatment

Princess Beatrice has become the first British royal to run the London Marathon.

Beatrice completed the 26-mile (42-kilometre) run in five hours, 15 minutes and 57 seconds last night (NZ time), and was congratulated at the end by her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

The 21-year-old was part of a group of 34 participants who ran tethered to each other - which set a Guinness World Record, AFP reported.
