A marine veteran has burned season tickets for NFL team the Indianapolis Colts in response to NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem.
At least 100 players kneeled or sat down in protest last weekend after US president Donald Trump said NFL owners should fire players who would kneel during the national anthem.
In a video posted on social media Rodney Heard stands in front of a burning fire with four sets of tickets in his hands.
"I'm a season ticketholder in the NFL. I've always been a huge fan, I wish I could have played in the NFL if I had the athletics ability," Heard states.
"I went into the marine core and served my country. My grandfathers served our country, both of them served in World War II. There are a lot of people that fought and died for that flag and to disrespect that like you did yesterday...I'm done. I thought about giving away my tickets or selling them, then I thought 'those seats are just going to be filled again'. So I'm making my own sacrifice and stand up for what I believe and I'm getting rid of these tickets right now."
