Shaun Marsh was denied a perfect finish on day three as he went to stumps with 98 not out, but a century partnership with brother Mitch will be plenty to savour for the in-form 34-year-old as the home side enters the fourth day with its foot firmly on England's throat.

Just two wickets fell in yesterday's SCG bloodbath as England struggled to contain Australia on a flat wicket. Debutant spinner Mason Crane was the talk of the town after delivering a controversial no-ball to dismiss Usman Khawaja LBW.

The 20-year-old finally got his man on 171 late in the day as the pitch offered the tweakers some purchase, but by then Australia had the tourists in the grave.
