KEY POINTS:
Former New Zealand Maori and Junior Kiwi league representative Aaron Heremaia has walked out on English club Halifax after just one training session.
The Halifax Evening Courier reported that the halfback, who previously played for North Sydney and Leigh, went AWOL because of unspecified "family problems" and eventually turned up in Australia.
The newspaper said yesterday that Halifax officials had made concerted attempts to entice him back to Britain, but to no avail.
Other media reports suggested that if Heremaia did return to England, he would prefer to take up a previous deal with Widnes Vikings, which had been scuppered because of financial problems at the end of last season.
But Halifax chairman Michael Steele told the Evening Courier the club would take legal action to prevent Heremaia joining another English club.
