Kiwis in Europe: Dan Carter's Racing-Metro knocked out of Champions Cup

Dan Carter's Racing-Metro are out of the European Champions Cup after a 23-7 reverse against Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun.

The 2015-16 runners-up have yet to register a win after four rounds. The Parisians included, in their line-up, Carter, the midfield combination of Anthony Tuitavake and Casey Laulala, with Ben Tameifuna and Chris Masoe in the pack, and Joe Rokocoko off the bench. Glasgow had Corey Flynn and Brian Alainu'uese in their match-day squad of 23.

Thomas Waldrom scored another try as his Exeter upset Bordeaux-Begles 20-12 away from home, Joe Edwards wearing the No 7 jersey for the French club.

Former Taranaki and Manu Samoa wing Paul Perez ran in a double as Toulouse crushed Zebre 54-15. Perez's teammates included Luke McAlister, Census Johnston and Joe Tekori.

Four goals to Munster pivot Tyler Bleyendaal were not quite enough as his team were edged 18-16 by Brendon O'Connor's Leicester.

A try to Connacht replacement, former Otago loose forward, Naulia Dawai, was decisive in the 20-18 win over Wasps. Dawai's teammates included Bundee Aki, Tom McCartney, and Nepia Fox-Matamua. Jimmy Gopperth kicked three goals from No 10 for Wasps, while Nathan Hughes turned out at No 8.

Isa Nacewa continued his strong form with 21 points, including two tries, in Leinster's 60-13 hiding of Northampton. Wing Ken Pisi scored a try for Saints. George Pisi was at centre and Ahsee Tuala at fullback.

An early try to fullback Isaia Toeava sent Clermont on their way to a 38-19 win over Charlie Piutau's Ulster.

Saracens, with Sean Maitland on the wing, edged Sale - who fielded TJ Ioane, Bryn Evans and Johnny Leota - 24-10 this morning. Evans, the former All Blacks lock, scored a late try.

In the Challenge Cup, Nick Crosswell was at No 6 as his Dragons overcame Worcester 22-7. Jason Woodward kicked a conversion as Bristol won 28-18 at Pau, who fielded just the sole Kiwi in lock Daniel Ramsay.

William Whetton's Brive defeated Tom Halse's Enisei 38-18, while Nasi Manu's Edinburgh went down 26-20 to Stade Francais.

Wing Jack Wilson scored a try in Bath's 38-3 defeat of the Cardiff Blues. Kahn Fotuali'i was at halfback for Bath, while Rey Lee-Lo and Willis Halaholo again combined in the Blues' midfield.

Former Waikato hooker Hikairo Forbes scored a try as La Rochelle decisively outplayed Gloucester 42-13. Uini Atonio, Jason Eaton and Victor Vito also suited up in the French club's pack. John Afoa scored a rare try for Gloucester, while Jeremy Thrush also started in the pack.

A try to Brendon Leonard was one of many in Ospreys' 71-3 demolition of Nigel Hunt's Grenoble. Kieron Fonotia and Ma'afu Fia also appeared.

Alofa Alofa and Mat Luamanu, who was red-carded, featured off the bench in Harlequins' 75-3 win over Romanian club Timisaora Saracens. The latter featured Steve Shennan, Paula Kinikinilau and Jack Umaga in the backline.

Dean Budd's Treviso beat Tanerau Latimer's and Ryan Tongia's Bayonne 21-17.
A try to halfback Tana Takalua helped Newcastle to a 48-29 victory over Lyon, who fielded Josh Bekhuis, Taiasina Tuifua and Ti'i Paulo.

The next European round of matches will be in four weeks. The domestic competitions resume this weekend.
