Alex Maloney and Molly Meech made another step up the leaderboard at the 49erFX world championships in Marseille, France, overnight to sit in seventh after the third day.
Light winds again hit the event, with the men's 49er fleet unable to complete a race. Kiwis Marcus Hansen and Josh Porebski remain in third with Olympic silver medallists Peter Burling and Blair Tuke in fourth but on equal points with their training partners.
It means the competition will skip the semifinal phase for the top 40 crews and instead jump straight into the gold fleet for the top 20.
Maloney and Meech, the world's No-ranked crew in the 49erFX class, were sixth, 18th and second in their three races and are now on 34 points.
They are 10 points behind the Dutch crew of Annemiek Bekkeringthird and Claire Blom in third. Sarah Steyaert and Julie Bossard (France) and Victoria Jurczok and Anika Lorenz (Germany) lead on 21 points.
